This
Kindergarten Focus Day aims to bring together SCSBC kindergarten teachers
and their principals (and/or the vice-principal, curricululm coordinator).
The intent is for the day to be open-ended to allow time for your questions and to brainstorm possibilities within the parameters set out the by Ministry of Education for kindergarten. We are privileged to have Mr. Ed Vanderboom, Inspector of the Office of Independent Schools join us for a portion of the day.
The agenda could include topics such as:
- reviewing questions raised at the Regional Principals' meetings
- pros and cons of full-day and half-day kindergarten (a summary of the research)
- responding to differing parental expectations
- discussing the long-term impact of full-day kindergarten on our schools
- brainstorming what a kindergarten program could look like under the current Ministry options
- discussing ways how SCSBC can support our schools in making changes to their kindergarten program
- considerations for summer professional development
- Q/A with the Inspector of Independent Schools
