Unity Christian School, in beautiful Chilliwack, B.C. is seeking a Director of Development for the 2022–23 school year.

The mission of Unity Christian School is to assist students in developing their God-given potential, enabling them to participate in the work of building the Kingdom of God.  Distinctly, we are a K – 12 school that has intentionally adopted cultural practices to build a K – 12 learning community. K – 12 teachers and students collaborate and support one another on the learning journey. Further, Unity Christian’s educational program is guided by our own graduate profile, which is based around our unique core values: Dedication of Our All to God, Community, Acceptance and Inclusiveness, Grace, Challenge, and Discernment.

Unity Christian School has been one of the fastest-growing schools in the SCSBC community. Supported by the population growth in the Eastern Fraser Valley, Unity Christian has grown from 270 students in 2013 to over 600 students and 90 staff members in 2022. Driven by its vision, Unity Christian is committed to serving every Christian family that desires Christian education. Supported by projected demographic and population trends in Chilliwack, in January 2021, Unity Christian School purchased 8.1 acres down the road from its current site for a future expansion in order to support more Christian families in the Eastern Fraser Valley.

To support the ongoing mission and vision of Unity Christian School and accomplish the goals of the 2022 – 2027 Strategic Plan, Unity Christian School is in need of a Director of Development. The Director of Development is a new position and would be supported by Unity’s current Development Assistant and Admissions Coordinator. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about Christian education and is able to build meaningful relationships with all members of our community.

• Creative, strategic, detail-oriented
• A self-starter with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to translate information into concrete and understandable terms for a variety of audiences
• Highly relational with strong interpersonal skills
• Experienced in planning and executing large events
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
• Understanding of major donor and fund development strategies and legacy giving programs

 

Education:

• College or university degree with an emphasis on public relations, marketing, or business administration

 

Experience:

• Work experience in development at an educational or non-profit organization
• Experience developing and executing successful development programs
• Knowledge of/experience in annual giving programs and capital campaigns
• Experience initiating, cultivating and managing relationships with key donors
• Successful track record of meeting goals related to giving
