Langley Christian School (LCS) is currently accepting applications for the position of ADVANCEMENT ASSISTANT commencing August 20, 2018.  This is a 1.0 contract position based around the school calendar (end of August – first week of July) with the possibility to extend into a permanent role after a one year evaluation. 

As a member of the LCS Advancement Office, the ADVANCEMENT ASSISTANT is a vital part of the recruitment and registration process for LCS Building Blocks preschool and the LCS K-12 program; she/he will also assist with external community relationships built through the coordination of annual fundraising and community events.

The duties of the ADVANCEMENT ASSISTANT can be broken down into the following areas:

Recruitment:

  • Answers inquiries regarding registrations on the phone as well as registration inquiries from individuals who drop into the LCS Central Office.
  • Answer inquiries and assist with registrations from current families who are registering siblings grade 1 through 12 as well as younger children in the Kindergarten and Preschool programs.
  • Updates all registration forms and ensures availability (print & digital)
  • Provides updated forms to Marketing Coordinator for LCS Website
  • Processes all applications ensuring files are complete
  • Follows up with incomplete applications as needed
  • Highlights “flagged” registration files for Superintendent & Principals
  • Photocopy completed interview forms and attach Capital Assessment Fee for Business office
  • Tracks inquiries from the Open House and phone inquiries and enter into CMS
  • Books tours with Principals
  • Tours inquiring families as needed
  • Coordination of annual Open House (set-up, clean-up, refreshments)
  • Prints and collates documents for open house: Campus Program Guides, Training packages for Hosts, and Registration Packages
  • Coordinates Open House volunteers
  • Conducts Open House with Director of Advancement
  • Other duties as required by the Director of Advancement

Community Building:

  • Liaison with the Friends of LCS (LCS parent group)
  • Coordination of annual Open House (set-up, clean-up, refreshments)
  • Prints and collates documents for open house: Campus Program Guides, Training packages for Hosts, and Registration Packages
  • Coordinates open house volunteers
  • Conducts Open House with Director of Advancement
  • Other duties as required by the Director of Advancement

Event Planning:

GOLF TOURNAMENT:

Working in partnership with the LCS Golf Committee, plan and execute the LCS Golf Tournament held annually in September.  Including, but not limited to, the following: annual review of sponsorship structure, writing sponsorship appeals, prize coordination, golfer registration, volunteer management, student management, coordination of games, prizes and silent auction items, set-up, clean-up and reconciliation of revenues.

DINNER + AUCTION:

Working in partnership with the Friends of LCS (parent volunteer group), plan and execute the annual LCS Dinner + Auction held annually in February.  Including, but not limited to, the following:  event theme and decor, booking of venue, booking caterer, booking photographer, booking music, crafting donation appeal letters, appeal letter follow up phone calls, class basket coordination, organization of live and silent auction items, coordination of printed promotions and printed marketing for event, volunteer management, set-up, clean-up and reconciliation of revenues.

YEAR END BBQ:

Working in partnership with the Friends of LCS, plan and execute the annual Year End BBQ in June.  Including, but not limited to, the following:  event theme and decor, menu planning, games and activities, volunteer recruitment, coordination of printed promotions, set-up, clean-up and reconciliation of revenues.

  • Possess enthusiasm, passion, and a strong work ethic
  • Highly organized, a self-starter and a problem-solver
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
