Classroom Support Teachers (starting date: August 2019)


Job Description:


Kelowna Christian School is seeking four (4) Classroom Support Teachers (one position in each of our Primary, Intermediate, Middle School and High School divisions) to be a part of an amazing Student Support Services team, each responsible for supporting students with diverse learning needs and supporting the differentiation of instruction both inside and outside of the classroom.  While much of the Classroom Support Teacher role will require working alongside teachers inside a classroom, there will also be a large administrative portion (particularly during September and June), in order to co-create, develop and implement Individual Education Plans and Learning Plans.


Successful candidates will have:

  • demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
  • a passion to work with students of varying needs and abilities
  • proven strengths in the areas of fostering student learning, differentiation, collaboration, shared decision-making, parent and teacher engagement
  • strong problem-solving, organization and time management skills


Classroom Support Teachers should meet, at minimum, the following qualifications;         

  • A Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of successful classroom teaching experience.


In addition, training/experience in the following areas are recommended:     

  • Meeting the needs of students with specific exceptionalities (e.g. learning disabilities, AD/HD, FAS/FAE, gifted, ELL, ASD)
  • Meeting the diverse behavioural and emotional needs of students.
  • UDL, Backwards Design and RTI
  • Assessment
