John Knox Christian School (JKCS) is a K – 12 school based in Burnaby and New Westminster in BC, with an enrollment that is trending towards 900 students. JKCS exists to prepare students for a life of transformation and service through excellent Christ-centered education. Our elementary campus is based in Burnaby and it feeds into a recently opened high school campus in New Westminster, approximately 10 minutes away. The school was founded in 1955 and its’ student body currently represents almost 20 denominations from 26 different nationalities. JKCS is consistently rated in the top 5% of all schools in BC, with a Fraser Institute average score of 9.2/10.
JKCS is accepting applications for the position of a Lead Principal starting in either August 2020 or 2021. The applicant is required to possess the appropriate vision, leadership, and passion for Christian education to guide both the high school and elementary school into the next phase. The position will report to the Board of Directors and will be supported by one elementary Principal and one high school Vice-Principal as well as a Director of Curriculum, an excellent teaching staff, and a full administrative team. A proven ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders in an inclusive, collaborative manner is a requirement. The role requires a visionary individual that truly leads by example, working collaboratively by building consensus and teamwork.
More specifically, the successful candidate will have:
Demonstrated educational leadership at a senior level.
A history of positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders in an educational environment, including Board members, teachers, staff, parents, and donors.
Significant experience in demonstrating wisdom and leadership while guiding an organization through change and growth.
The ability to build community and a collaborative environment within a diverse environment.
The ability to interact with various related associations, including FISA and SCSBC.
Willingness to commit to the JKCS Mission and Vision, with a focus on the reformed worldview of Christian education.
A thorough understanding of Christian perspective on curriculum in a modern-day environment.
Advanced (Master) degree in Education or equivalent, with preference but not limited to a Christian University.
Active participation in a Bible-believing church.
