Learning Support Services Coordinator

2024/25 LSS Coordinator (1.0 FTE)

Valley Christian School is a small independent school located in Mission, BC. We have approximately 160 students. We are currently accepting applications for the position of Learning Support Services Coordinator. This is a full-time position, commencing August 22, 2024.

The Learning Support Services Coordinator (Special Education & Learning Assistance) is responsible for developing student learning plans and individualized education plans and determining the appropriate supports needed to meet student learning needs. The coordinator is supervised by the principal and collaborates with teachers and educational assistants in development and implementation of educational plans.

 Preferred Qualifications:

• A Bachelor of Education degree (or equivalent)
• Hold, or be eligible for, a valid BC Teaching Certificate
• University coursework in the following areas:
  • Credentials in special education
• In addition, courses in the following areas are recommended:
  • Meeting the needs of students with specific exceptions (i.e., autism, developmental delays, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), etc.)
  • Meeting the diverse behavioural needs in the classroom
  • Computer technology for the classroom
  • Non-violent de-escalation training

• Practice strong collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Establish positive working relationships with school staff, community partners, families, and children
• Be able to confidently lead and support staff
• With colleagues, plan and maintain a learning environment that promotes the health, security, and well-being of children
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn

Salary Range: $47,388.76 to $79,211.32
