Network Administrator (80%, with full-time options available)

 

Duncan Christian School is a diverse Christian school located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, midway between Victoria and Nanaimo.  We currently serve approximately 390 students from preschool through Grade 12, including many indigenous families from Cowichan Tribes.

 

DCS invites applications from candidates with abilities in network administration and IT. The position is approximately 80%, and may become full-time, depending on the preferences of the candidate and the needs of the school. Teaching responsibilities are not a requirement for this position, but would allow for the position to become full-time. The position begins in August 2019.

 

The network administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operation, administration and maintenance of the hardware and software infrastructure of the school, as well as providing end-user technical support. The network administrator also plays a strategic role in helping define longer term technology strategies of the school, speaking into the strategic development of teacher use of instructional technology.

 

The network administrator will oversee Duncan Christian School’s Infrastructure which includes Windows servers in a HyperV environment, a mix of Windows, Apple and Chromebook end-user hardware, managed Aruba Wifi and firewall applications.  Applicants with experience in these areas are preferred.

 

The Network Administrator will provide leadership and oversight of the network and instructional technologies development, will provide input into the technical budget, work with staff toward effective integration of technology, and maintain a proactive approach to maintenance.  We seek an individual who loves to build relationships with youth and enjoys working together with others to provide a supportive and engaging school community for students from many backgrounds.
