    Pacific Christian Elementary or Secondary

    Pacific Christian School invites applicants to apply for a 0.8 Primary Learning Assistant Teacher to commence in September 2026.
    There may be an opportunity to increase the FTE with an additional coordinator or teaching responsibilities.

     

    Ideally, the teacher that we are seeking will:

    • possess current British Columbia teacher certification;
    • have a vibrant Christian faith and a desire to foster Christian faith formation in young people;
    • desire to become an active, contributing, collaborative member of a professional learning community;
    • have demonstrated organizational and planning skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills with both adults and young people;
    • provide a significant collaborative leadership role;
    • commit to supporting the school’s goal to improve student literacy, and be familiar with and knowledgeable about current Literacy practices, including reading intervention strategies, assessment and evaluation techniques, best practices, and curriculum surrounding literacy;
    • commit to supporting the school’s goal to improve student understanding of mathematics, and lead curriculum and pedagogical choices for primary teachers;
    • through collaboration and co-facilitation, support classroom teachers and school teams to identify the needs of students, set learning targets, and enhance best practices to ensure the continued growth of identified students in reading, writing, and mathematics;
    • support the collection of assessment data and build understanding about how to utilize this data to plan for reading instruction;
    • provide daily direct instruction and literacy/numeracy intervention for identified students in 1-to-1 and small group settings using evidence-based practices, instructional data, and professional knowledge;
    • meet regularly with teachers to collaboratively plan classroom instruction that correlates with the needs of identified students;
    • support Student Services with other duties and initiatives as required.

     

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor of Education degree with successful teaching experience at the primary level, preferably in multiple grade levels with a minimum of five years’ experience;
    • a Master’s in Education (M.A. or M.Ed.) degree would be an asset;
    • background and post-degree training in working with students with learning disabilities, numeracy, and literacy intervention;
    • level B testing.

    This position is for the 2026/27 school year. Remuneration is based on the PCS Salary Grid.
