Annual salary: $22,000 plus applicable wage enhancement
Delta Christian School is seeking a warm, organized, and experienced After-School Childcare Manager and Teacher to lead our licensed after-school care program for children in kindergarten to grade 5.
Our after-school care program provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging “home away from home” where children are known, cared for, and supported in their growth. The successful candidate will create a caring environment that supports children’s well-being, belonging, creativity, learning, and social development.
Key Responsibilities
The After-School Childcare Manager and Teacher will:
- Provide a Christ-centred, warm, and engaging environment for children in kindergarten to grade 5.
- Plan, lead, and evaluate age-appropriate activities.
- Build meaningful relationships with children, families, and staff.
- Use developmentally appropriate behaviour guidance strategies.
- Observe, document, and respond to children’s abilities, interests, and needs.
- Ensure the program meets BC Child Care Licensing Regulations, including maintaining the policy handbook.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized childcare environment.
- Communicate with parents through documentation, email, and phone calls.
- Develop daily schedules, support routines, and plan special activities.
- Supervise and mentor childcare staff and work collaboratively with school administration.
- Support the program budget by tracking expenses and planning purchases responsibly.
- Participate in professional development and maintain required certifications.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- A valid Early Childhood Education certificate.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting. Preference will be given to those with leadership experience.
- Knowledge of the BC Child Care Licensing Regulations.
- Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and inclusion practices.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificates.
- A clear BC Criminal Record Check.
- Current Canadian residency and legal entitlement to work in Canada.
- An up-to-date record of immunizations.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Familiarity with maintaining a program budget and tracking expenses.
- Food Safe certification would be considered an asset.
- An active and evident relationship with Jesus Christ and consistent participation in a local church.
