Afterschool Care – Part Time (15 hrs/wk)
Located in the sunny Okanagan Valley, Kelowna Christian School is the largest independent Christian school in the city of Kelowna, British Columbia, educating approximately 850 students from preschool to Grade 12 across three campuses. Founded in 1978, Kelowna Christian School exists to educate, equip and inspire our school community to become disciples of Jesus who love and serve God and others. We are looking for a dynamic, responsible Christian adult who demonstrates a commitment towards Christian education and the ability to deliver childcare in an innovative manner that fully engages students. We are currently accepting applications for the following:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 19 years of age
- Must have ECE/A certification or have completed the 20-hour Responsible Adult Course
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR – Child Care
- Satisfactory Criminal Check and Medical Clearance
- Experience working in a licensed group Child Care facility (preferred but not required)
- High level of energy and creativity; strong organization, verbal and listening skills
- Desire to guide and nurture the social/emotional, physical and spiritual development of young children through modeling a relationship with God
- Ability to be physically active and responsive to children’s physical needs as required
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide child care and learning activities to students (max 24) from K to Grade 5
- Nurture the growth and development of each child with care, compassion and understanding
- Demonstrate appropriate behaviour, grace and courtesies with children, parents, and KCS staff; role models joy and a positive attitude in relation to learning and care
- Implement related care and learning activities specifically targeted to K to Grade 5 students
- Ensure child care program policies and procedures are consistently followed including, but not limited to, supervision, health & safety, and administration
- Clean and disinfect child care toys and equipment according to program policies
- Report directly to the Elementary School Principal
WORK ARRANGEMENT (15 hrs/wk)
- Starting September 2nd, 2025, this position is scheduled to work each weekday afternoon, Monday to Friday, from 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm, in our After School Care program, caring for up to 24 students ranging in age from 5 to 10.
COMPENSATION
- Hourly wage is dependent upon the candidate’s training, skills and experience
- The wage for this position ranges from $22.95 – $27.55 per hour
- An additional wage enhancement of $6.00 per hour for BC certified ECE
