Elementary Classroom Teacher

Abbotsford Christian School, located in the Fraser Valley, is a well-established interdenominational school of 1200 students on three campuses: Elementary (preschool – grade 4), Middle (5-8), and Secondary (9-12).

Abbotsford Christian School is now accepting applications for an ELEMENTARY CLASSROOM TEACHER in a JOB-SHARING TEAM for grade 2 for the 2024/25 school year. This position is 0.40 to 0.50 FTE, salaried, and begins September 1, 2024.

Job-sharing refers to two part-time teachers dividing the time and responsibilities of managing a single classroom. The formation of a job-sharing team is decided by the campus principal in consultation with the incumbent teacher, ensuring compatibility among team members. Allocation of responsibilities within the assignment will be determined collaboratively by the team members with input from the campus principal, prioritizing the students’ well-being. Final approval of the assignment and distribution of tasks rests with the administrator. An interview will be a required part of the process.

Specific qualifications include:

• BA Degree in Education (or equivalent) with a specialty
• BC teaching certificate
• Extracurricular experience
• Clear understanding of Christian education

The ideal applicant must:

• Demonstrate evidence of a deep and disciplined understanding of the Christian worldview
• Be able to confidently teach in an elementary classroom.
• Have knowledge of and have a willingness to implement a phonics based structured literacy program
• With the job-share teacher and other classroom colleagues, plan and maintain a learning environment that promotes the well-being of children.
• Have a reputation for being an excellent educator and model servant leadership
• Have experience with project-based learning or Deeper Learning pedagogies
• Demonstrate a willingness to work in a team environment in a progressive and creative school
• Be able to work professionally and confidently with the ability to adapt to situations as needs arise
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn

The salary range for this position is $22,400 – $47,000 and is dependent on an applicant’s qualifications and experiences.
