Position Title: Evening Maintenance & Custodial Associate
Reports To: Facilities Manager and/or Operations Manager
Hours: Part-time, 25–30 hours per week
Wage: $23.00 per hour
Schedule: Afternoons & evenings (typically after school hours; some flexibility required)

Position Overview
The Evening Maintenance & Custodial Associate plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-prepared learning environment for students, staff, and community users. Working primarily during afternoon and evening hours, this role focuses on daily cleaning, building readiness for the next school day, and light maintenance support.
This position works in coordination with the daytime custodial and maintenance team and may share overlapping duties to ensure consistency, quality, and continuity of care across the campus.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Cleaning & Janitorial Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, washrooms, hallways, and common areas after school hours.
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces including desks, door handles, railings, switches, and fixtures.
- Empty garbage, recycling, and compost bins; ensure waste is properly disposed of.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot-clean floors as required.
- Autoscrub the floors as required
- Clean windows as required
- Restock washroom and custodial supplies.
- Respond to spills, accidents, or urgent cleaning needs as they arise.
- Ensure custodial closets and storage areas are kept clean, organized, and secure.
2. Facility Readiness & Support
- Prepare the building for the following school day by ensuring spaces are clean, orderly, and reset.
- Report maintenance concerns (e.g., lighting, plumbing, damage, safety hazards) using established reporting procedures.
- Lock and secure designated areas of the building at the end of the shift.
- Support evening rentals or school events through light setup, teardown, or cleaning as needed.
- Monitor for safety or security concerns and report unusual activity.
3. Light Maintenance & Overlapping Duties
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, or basic repairs (as trained).
- Support periodic deeper cleaning projects in coordination with the Facilities Manager.
- Provide occasional overlap or coverage with daytime custodial staff when required.
- Assist with seasonal tasks or summer cleaning projects as hours allow.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience preferred (training provided where needed).
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean, well-kept spaces.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently during evening hours.
- Physically able to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
- WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).

Working Conditions
- Afternoon & Evening hours
- Occasional weekend hours may be required depending on events or rentals.
- Work is performed indoors with some exterior duties as needed.
- This role may involve working alone during portions of the shift.
