Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) is a K-12 Provincial Online Learning School, providing fully accredited, Christian education to students in BC. As one of Western Canada’s largest online schools, we connect teachers with families and students to provide guidance and support via personalized, online, and face-to-face options.
HCOS has an opening for a Learning Support Coach in the Inclusive Education Department, that reports to the Regional Administrator. This is a full-time remote permanent position at 40 hours per week. The primary role of the Learning Support Coach is to support the implementation of the Response To Instruction (RTI) model for students, providing professional development and support for teachers and administrators of Tier 1 students.
As the Learning Support Coach, your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Provide professional development and facilitate supplemental Universal and Universal+ (Tier 1) support for K-12 teachers
- Provide three-year model training and coaching for K-12 teachers
- Liaise with the Inclusive Education Regional Administrator (IE RA) regarding the management of professional assessments, therapies and external supports for students, including Tier 2 and those who may be in consideration for a designation (A – R)
- Coach K-12 teachers to provide direction and support for students, including self-advocacy, independence, and executive functioning skills; collaborate with contracted professionals
- Use school databases to plan, implement and review programming support for students
- Facilitate Individual Education Plans (IEP) meetings in collaboration with teacher and parents, and develop IEPs for students managed by the LSC
- Participate in Student at Risk Team (SRT) meetings as required
- Collaborate in the submission of category designation applications, completing supporting documentation as needed
- Work with teachers to complete Encom modules for student supports
- Keep detailed and timely case notes in Encom
- Provide on-site observation and inclusive practices coaching support for Community Connections (CC) teachers and coordinators
- Provide professional development opportunities for teachers on specific LS topics as requested by the IE RA, Directors and other school leadership
- Participate in ongoing professional development with the purpose of enabling others to support students and families according to the RTI and three years to effective support coaching models
