Band Teacher and Fine Arts Coordinator

White Rock Christian Academy (WRCA) is seeking a passionate and visionary Senior School Band Teacher and Fine Arts Coordinator to provide leadership, coordination, and oversight of our Fine Arts programming across the school. This role includes both program leadership & teaching responsibilities, and reports to the Senior School Principal.

The Senior School Band Teacher and Fine Arts Coordinator plays a key role in shaping a vibrant and Christ-centred arts culture at WRCA. This position involves overseeing performing and visual arts programming across both Junior and Senior School, while also creating meaningful opportunities for student engagement and artistic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Vision and School Culture

• Promote WRCA’s Core Purpose and Core Vision through Fine Arts education
• Advocate for excellence and visibility in the arts across the school community
• Contribute to whole-school events, themes, and celebrations

Program Leadership and Coordination

• Oversee Fine Arts programming across Junior and Senior School (music, visual art, drama, worship arts)
• Coordinate concerts, productions, exhibitions, festivals, and trips
• Lead chapel worship and student worship teams

Teaching and Student Engagement

• Teach G10–12 Senior School music courses, including IB Diploma Programme Music, to a cohort of Grade 12 students
• Direct and develop the Senior School Concert Band (Grades 10–12), fostering both musical excellence and a strong ensemble culture
• Lead, mentor, and develop student worship teams, equipping them to plan and lead music for weekly chapels
• Encourage and grow student participation in co-curricular arts opportunities and direct ensembles (e.g., band, choir, jazz)

Staff Collaboration and Support

• Support Fine Arts staff and encourage professional growth
• Collaborate with school leadership to ensure alignment across programs

Operations and Resources

• Assist in managing Fine Arts budgets and planning for program needs
• Support facility use, equipment planning, and special events
• Help coordinate Fine Arts-related fundraising initiatives
