Duncan Christian School is located on beautiful Vancouver Island and due to significant growth invites applications for the following position to commence immediately upon  finding a successful candidate.

ADVANCEMENT COORDINATOR

The advancement coordinator is responsible for furthering the mission of Duncan Christian School in the area of admissions/enrollment, communications, community building, and development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Admissions/Enrollment – focus on maintaining and increasing enrollment, promoting the school in creative ways, representing the school at various events and in various communities

Communications – creating an informative and inviting online presence,  

Community Building – coordinating events that encourage involvement of the community, being visible at school-related events, connecting with the public as a representative of Duncan Christian School

Development – track and encourage annual giving, connecting with active supporters and recruiting new supporters and grants.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma or university degree with an emphasis on development, communications or marketing, or equivalent work experience)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work experience in an educational or non-profit organization

HOURS OF WORK

This salary based position requires approximately 2000 hour per year, which requires creative scheduling that may require evening or weekend work. Actual work hours and schedule to be settled upon in coordination with Administration and Director of Development. Specific weekly hours of commitment will fluctuate. 4-6 weeks of vacation per year depending on qualifications, work experience and job responsibilities.

DCS  hosts over 450 PreK-12 students, including indigenous students from Cowichan Tribes. These families are part of our identity and add richly to the cultural diversity of the school.  We seek staff who have a heart for all types of people from all backgrounds, socio-economic situations, and cultures.  Our staff work hard to create an environment where children and youth feel a strong sense of acceptance and belonging. DCS is a non-denominational Christian school with an open enrollment policy governed by a board of directors representing the Duncan Christian School Society membership. DCS was founded on a Reformed worldview of Christianity, and that distinct perspective shapes our vision. Attached to our school’s constitution is a document that summarizes our faith and worldview.
