Counsellor – Elementary Campus (0.2 FTE) Back to Jobs

We are seeking a part-time counsellor. The successful candidate will work closely with school administration, Learning Services Teachers and classroom teachers to ensure proactive strategies are in place for student well-being. Demonstrated ability with child and family needs is necessary.

Role: Counsellor – .2 (1 day a week, Wednesday)

  • Short term/situation-based counselling support for students
  • Will work closely with Youth/Child Care Worker
  • Refer to outside agencies and counsellors as needed
  • Equip staff in supporting students
  • Connect with and equip parents
  • Participate in School Based Team – provide strategies to support students with social, emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges
  • Lessons with classes on topics such as managing anxiety and big emotions
  • Monthly cross campus team meeting with counsellors and Youth Care Workers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Clinical Counsellor or equivalent
  • Experience with children and families
