HCS has an opening for an Early Learning Center (ELC) Manager. This is an onsite position at 30 – 40 hours per week. The primary role of this position is to oversee HCELC’s Pre-School/Jr-K programming and HCS’ Before & After School Care and Student Camps programming. He/she will provide a safe, joyful, and welcoming environment and will contribute to HCELC’s and HCS’ vision & program & community.

As the Early Learning Center (ELC) Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include:

• As Manager he/she will also have hours on the floor as ELC Teacher and/or Before/After school program staff
• Ensure that the Heritage Christian Early Learning Center (HCELC) meets all legal requirements
– Arrange sufficient staffing for ratio requirements of the Child Care Licensing Regulation
– Ensure sufficient insurance coverage, first-aid certifications, and professional certifications
– Recognize, document, and take action in case of suspected abuse of neglect, illness, or accident, reporting the incident as a serious occurrence
– Provide a report for the KCCS annual general meeting
• Ensure that child care operational policies are implemented
– Establish a waiting list system, keep it updated as needed, and enroll children according to the priorities outlined in the enrollment policy, as supported by HCS Admissions
– Ensure the parent handbook is current to reflect policies and procedures
– Arrange meetings and interviews as requested by either enrolling parents/legal guardians or staff
• Ensure ongoing supervision exists
– Update job descriptions, handbooks, website information, etc. as needed
– Liaise with HR to maintain personnel files with required documentation
– Recruit, interview, and hire staff as supported by the HCS Head of School and HR
– Carry out periodic reviews and annual performance reviews with HCELC staff
– Attend regular meetings with HCS administration
• Liaise with KCCS finance to maintain financial policies and procedures and ensure accurate financial record keeping
– Maintain complete and accurate financial records (including fee payment, payroll information, petty cash, and bank deposits) and submit promptly to the society’s bookkeeper
– Ensure tax receipts are prepared for fees
– Ensure that Child Care Subsidy authorizations are obtained, families are reminded about renewal, and that subsidy claims are prepared and sent in every month
– Ensure the annual budget is prepared and maintain monthly financial statements as supported by the HCS Head of School
– Oversee the purchase of services, supplies and equipment as needed within the approved annual budget
– Seek out and prepare applications for grants
• Professionalism
– Present and maintain Christian attitude and conduct toward staff, ELC children and families, and the community at large
– Adhere to ECEBC Code of Ethics in all aspects of practice
– Identify areas where obtaining professional development will enhance capacity to do the work
– Participate in professional development opportunities
• Promote the center and participate in community networking and planning
– Promote the HCELC in our Rutland and in our greater Kelowna community
– Inform the Head of School of municipal, provincial, and federal government policies and initiatives that affect child care

We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications & Skills:

• A valid Early Childhood Education Certificate & First Aid Certificate, and other license-required documentation
• Extensive experience in Pre-School/Daycare/Early Learning Centers
• Must have a passion for Discipleship & Christian Education, Children & Families & Staff, Relationships & Connection
• Must have attributes of Team-Thinker, Self-Starter, Life-Long Learner, Flexible, Gracious, Compassionate, Humble
• A passionate follower of Jesus, supportive change-agent, creative organizational thinker, and have shown mastery in previous roles
• Excellent communication skills
