    Position:  Educational Assistant (1.0 FTE)

    Compensation Range:  $26,000 – $33,000 (dependent on education/certification and experience)

    Agassiz Christian School is a dynamic, well-established elementary school located in the upper Fraser Valley, nestled at the foot of beautiful Mount Cheam, with over 100 students registered from Preschool to Grade 7.  We are a growing community with a dedicated staff who wish to see students discover, grow and thrive.

    ACS is accepting applications for a full-time EA position beginning in September 2024.   Depending on staffing composition, this position could be working as a Classroom Educational Assistant, an Early Childhood Educator Assistant or a Special Education Assistant for a specific student on an Individualized Education Plan.

     

    The successful applicant will:

    • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a team
    • Provide classroom support, working with small groups or with individual students
    • Understand elementary curriculum and be able to modify and adapt work
    • Build positive relationships with a variety of students
    • Keep records of IEP goals, documenting student progress
    • Maintain confidentiality
    • Participate in school-based team meetings
    • Assist in implementing a behaviour support plan when necessary
    • Provide personal care and hygiene assistance when required
    • Implement physiotherapy exercises when required

    Experience working with students with non-verbal communication, chronic health conditions, and feeding tubes would be an asset, but not required.

     

    IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education Assistant Certificate (or equivalent) or Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certificate
    • Experience and/or further training in supporting students with autism or FASD, personal care needs, or other learning differences
    • Crisis intervention training
    • Evidence of involvement in a local Christian faith community
    • Strong professional references
    • Ability to work in a collaborative, inclusive work environment

     

    Each candidate must be:

    • A committed Christian
    • Dedicated to Christian education.
    • Willing to sign the Community Standards policy of the school.
