Executive Director SCSBC Back to Jobs

Who We Are

As a registered charitable organisation, The Society of Christian Schools in British Columbia (SCSBC) has been supporting Christian education in British Columbia since 1976 through its mission of “Strengthening Christian schools through service, community, advocacy and vision”. Located at the Trinity Western University campus in Langley, SCSBC supports over 30 member schools and non-member organisations with guidance, resources and educational leadership across the province.

An Exciting Opportunity

SCSBC has a rewarding and challenging opportunity to continue leading the work of SCSBC as our current Executive Director prepares to retire in 2023 after 9 years of exemplary service. We intend for our next Executive Director to begin as an Associate Executive Director on August 1, 2022 and to benefit from a one year period of transition and mentorship from the retiring Executive Director.

Reporting to the SCSBC Board of Directors, in this critical role you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your strong ability to engage and provide guidance and educational leadership to administrators and educators across a wide spectrum of independent Christian schools. Your passion and vision for Christian education combined with your ability to develop innovative solutions and services that are valued by schools will ensure that SCSBC continues to be the premier organisation that provides resources and support to independent schools in BC.

As an advocate and voice for Christian education, your expert level communication and interpersonal skills will be important to maintain and build relationships with a variety of partners and government stakeholders. Your strong business acumen and systems thinking will ensure you are able to confidently provide guidance in the key areas of governance, HR practices, development and regulatory environment as it pertains to the independent school system in BC.

And finally, the right person for this role will have an affinity and love for mentoring and leading others to success. You will have the privilege of supporting our current school leaders as well as supporting the development of future school leaders. Backed by a small, professional, dedicated team of staff, you will help strengthen Christian schools through your effective leadership and management of an organisation that is dedicated to the success of Christian education.

To be considered for this role, you will have a Master’s degree in educational leadership or a suitable equivalent combination of skills, knowledge and experience. Experience and professional study or development in the areas of business management and leadership is highly desired.

Most importantly, you will be able to demonstrate your commitment to a Christ-centred life through your involvement in a Christian church community and your understanding and acknowledgement of the mission, vision and community standards of SCSBC.

As we support schools across BC and work with partners and affiliates across Canada, regular travel will be a component of this role.
