Position Available – Facilities Supervisor – Vancouver Christian School

We have an exciting part-time opportunity for an experienced facilities maintenance professional to help us look after our 3-year-old school building and grounds.

Working 20-25 flexible hours per week, you will be part of a community that greatly cares about creating a school environment that actively supports our students’ learning.  We love working and learning in a new, modern building and are looking for an individual who also values proper maintenance and stewardship of our physical assets.

As the Facilities Supervisor, reporting to the Superintendent, your key responsibilities include:

  • the safe management of all major building systems including electrical, HVAC, security, emergency, lighting, utilities, and telecom systems within a modern building
  • serving as the “go-to” person for all things related to maintenance and repairs. We do not have a staff of maintenance people
  • management of a wide range of contractors and suppliers to ensure VCS is receiving the best value and service possible
  • overseeing the facilities and maintenance budgets to ensure responsible stewardship of school funds
  • identifying, prioritizing, and fixing building deficiencies, either personally or calling on the necessary trade(s) to fix the issue in a timely and safe manner and
  • ensuring the school facilities are operating in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements


Ideally, you will have a minimum of 3 years experience in commercial office or school buildings in the areas of building maintenance, engineering, facilities, and operations.  A red seal trade or 5th Class Power Engineers certificate is highly desirable or alternatively, you may have a Power Engineering education and have completed your BCSA exams.  A Class 5 driver’s license is required.

You are also someone who is highly organized with a high level of mechanical and trades aptitude that will allow you to identify, prioritize and rectify building issues and problems as they arise.  Flexibility, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills will be key.
