The high school athletic director (AD) is responsible for upholding the vision and mission of the athletics programs for Maple Ridge Christian School. Interested applicants should have the ability to communicate clearly, organizational skills, a passion for athletics, and the desire to see students grow in their skill development.

Athletics fit well into our school-wide vision to develop the heart, soul, mind, and strength of each student. The goal of the Maple Ridge Christian Hornet’s Athletics Program is to provide the opportunity for students to compete and serve, while discovering their God-given gifts through athletics. Our focus is on the discipline of training strong and healthy bodies, working hard, and working together.

We also recognize that athletics build our community in a special way. Everyone can be involved. Students can play on a team, be a referee, a scorekeeper, or cheering fan. This is another way we ensure that every student thrives.

The duties of the AD are noted as follows:

• Administration: General oversight of the administrative duties for sports programs, including connection with the various information sources, tracking dates and deadlines for registrations and meetings, budget management, development and maintenance of the athletics calendar, and completion of all relevant paperwork.
• Programs: Oversight of all athletic programs, including decisions regarding which programs to offer, student recruitment, recruitment, organization, and training of coaches, organization of rides and bussing, scheduling of practices and games/events, development of an athletics calendar, etc.
• Student Management: Oversight of student management, including development of team lists, student code of conduct contracts, assisting coaches in team composition, etc.
• Communication: Oversight of communication with associations, coaches, administration,  students, and staff regarding events and overall athletic programs information, etc. Oversight of communication between coaches and team players and parents regarding team rules, plans, etc.
• Equipment: Oversight of all equipment for the sports programs including balls, uniforms, etc. Applicant will work in conjunction with the PHE teachers regarding general use and updating of sports equipment

While preference will be given to qualified applicants who possess BC Teacher Certification, we will also consider applications from individuals who demonstrate relevant experience and skills, but are not certified teachers. This is currently a 0.2 – 0.4 FTE position, depending on the applicant’s qualification It may be possible to combine this with teaching or other duties to create a full-time position. The position would start for the 2023–24 school year.
