Duncan Christian School is located on beautiful Vancouver Island and due to significant growth invites applications for the following position to commence August, 2023.

INCLUSION SUPPORT TEACHER

The inclusion support teacher is responsible for furthering the mission of Duncan Christian School in the area of inclusion and inclusive practices with a  grades 7-12 focus.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Join a collaborative team responsible for working within the student support department 
• Work with a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework
• Programming and overseeing Support 8-12 classes
• Case management of non-funded students for both IEPs and SSPs for grades 7-12
• Communicating with parents and staff 
• Will report to the Director of Student Support in both the elementary and high school campus

 

SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:

• Even-tempered, friendly, and philosophy that staff, parents, and students work together
• Strong desire to connect with students and problem-solve in a constructive and proactive manner
• Flexible, professional, confident, and able to help the school team with long-term planning
• A desire to further learning about pedagogical approaches to improve student engagement and academic progress

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Understanding of teaching from a  Christian Worldview
• BC Certification or equivalent and at least two years of successful teaching experience
• Experience and training in Special education
• Some leadership experience, including an understanding of conflict management practices (desired)

 

DCS  hosts over 450 PreK-12 students from various backgrounds, including indigenous students from Cowichan Tribes.
