Duncan Christian School is located on beautiful Vancouver Island and, due to retirement, invites applications for the following position to commence in August 2023.

INDIGENOUS FAMILY LIAISON
The indigenous student and families liaison position creates a bridge of support for the indigenous students and their families represented at our school.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Connections – helping to increase indigenous representation in special activities, teachings, leading in our classrooms and community events
Relationship Building – connecting with students and families to get to know them in order to learn about being in this community alongside Cowichan Tribes and in order to understand existing needs, taking steps to build a team to support these needs
Student/Family Support – understanding the needs of individuals and families and providing them on-site and off-site support in any areas such as completing forms, reregistration, communicating with the school

HOURS OF WORK
Hours of work are based on a typical school day. However, there are times when a flexible schedule will be necessary based on what is needed. This is to be determined in collaboration with administration when necessary.
DCS hosts over 450 PreK-12 students from various backgrounds, including indigenous students from Cowichan Tribes. These families are part of our identity and add richly to the cultural diversity of the school. We seek staff with a heart for all types of people from all backgrounds, socio-economic situations, and cultures. Our staff work hard to create an environment where children and youth feel a strong sense of acceptance and belonging. Duncan Christian School has undergone significant growth over the past ten years and is currently operating at capacity, and is looking forward to growth opportunities.
DCS is a non-denominational Christian school with an open enrollment policy governed by a board of directors representing the Duncan Christian School Society membership. DCS was founded on a Reformed worldview of Christianity, and that distinct perspective shapes our vision. Attached to our school’s constitution is a document that summarizes our faith and worldview. The document is titled Our World Belongs to God.
