Laurentian Hills Christian School is looking for a dynamic Christian leader to become the next principal/COO
effective August 1, 2021. The ideal candidate will be passionate about leading, nurturing and empowering a
dedicated staff to educate students in our Christ-centered community. As the school leader you will
provide vision, oversee educational planning, manage school operations while advising and reporting to the
school board. The ability to develop relationships, communicate effectively, demonstrate flexibility and
creativity while working with students, parents, staff, the board and the community are vital skills to
providing an engaging learning environment where LHCS students can flourish.
Laurentian Hills Christian School is a community of over 340 students with a staff of 45. Students in our
school attend over 60 different churches in our region. Our existence of 50+ years has created a strong
foundation, while also providing the framework for implementing best practices in Christian education.
Through our mission and vision we strive to provide a comprehensive learning experience while equipping
students to be all that God has called them to be. LHCS seeks to develop students who are engaged with
God’s world, contribute to their communities, and deepen their relationship with Jesus.
LHCS is a member of Edvance Christian Schools, an organization of more than 70 Christian schools in
Ontario. Compensation for the position will align with Edvance recommendations.
LHCS is located in the city of Kitchener, part of the Waterloo Region, one of the fastest growing areas in
Ontario. There are more than half a million people living in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. There are options
for living urban, suburban and rural, all within a short driving distance to LHCS. KW has the amenities of an
urban area, while maintaining the essence of a smaller community.
The Principal/COO will collaboratively lead staff, report directly to the Board and have proven strengths in
the following areas:
● Experience with innovative practices for assessment and learning including responsive classroom,
project based learning and restorative discipline
● Effective oral and written communication skills
● Strong interpersonal skills
● Business and financial experience
● Committed to staff growth and development
● Collaborative decision making
● Minimum of 8 years teaching experience
● Educational leadership experience in a Christian school
● Masters of Education or nearly complete
● Ontario Teaching Certification or eligible
