8:45-10:00 Part I: Governance Matters
When we serve in any governance role or capacity, we are entrusted with a role or responsibility to care for the health and well-being of the organizations – schools – where we serve as trustees. What does this mean? What is the character of good governance? How can we foster effective governance so that these schools flourish? What is the character of the deliberative process that leads to wise and courageous decisions?

What are the key working relationships and, most notably, what is the relationship between he chair of the governing board and the chief executive officer? What does it mean to be accountable and transparent in the quality and character of our work?
