Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Course

SCSBC in collaboration with Wendy Enns and Abbotsford Christian School, will again be providing annual nonviolent crisis intervention training (CPI) for SCSBC member school staff for the 2016-17 school year. The primary focus of CPI training is on preventing the escalation of behaviour or crises and maintaining the care, welfare, safety and security of everyone in the school. It also includes information about sensory integration and self-regulation strategies that help to prevent disruptive behaviour.

SCSBC is underwriting the registration costs for member schools. Pre-registration is required and there will be a maximum of 40 participants for each date. This professional development opportunity is for SCSBC member schools only.

CPI Basic Course (full day – 6 hours of instruction):  suitable for first-time participants or those wanting to take the full course again.

Vancouver Island – Victoria on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm

Lower Mainland – Richmond on Friday, December 9, 2016, from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

Interior region course will take place in April, 2017. The date and location are yet to be determined.

CPI Refresher Course (half day – 4 hours of instruction) – suitable for re-certification

Vancouver Island – Victoria on Saturday, October 22, 2016, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
