    FTE: 0.5 FTE

    Duncan Christian School is located on beautiful Vancouver Island. Due to employee retirement, it is inviting applications for the following position commencing the 2025-/26 school year. 

    Athletic Director

    This 0.5 FTE position involves working with a diverse group of learners from a wide variety of backgrounds, being part of a collaborative learning environment and being open to unique ways to approach engagement in a Christian setting with athletics as an avenue for mentoring and bringing out gifts in the entire student body. 

    This position is not exclusive to a certified teacher and, if suited, may be combined with other responsibilities to increase FTE.

     

    Responsibilities include:

    • Leading grades 7-12  Duncan Christian Chargers Athletics program from a holistic mindset
    • Provide recreational leadership through athletes and minor officials
    • Provide opportunity for every sport the school offers to compete at the highest level with high rates of participation
    • Communicate with athletic directors in the community
    • Become familiar with the rules and regulations of BC School Sports
    • Arrange coaches for teams
    • Provide leadership for coaches as they implement the school’s mission and vision
    • Host games and tournaments in the various sports seasons

    The successful candidate will be able to integrate a Christian Worldview into all aspects of the program.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Eligible for teacher certification in BC
    • Experience in the field of sports leadership at the developmental level
    • Experience in Chrisitan discipleship in a sports setting
    • Experience in planning and organizing tournaments 
    • Skills in communication with professionals, parents, coaches and athletes

     

    This position begins in late August at the start of the 2025/26 school year and has the potential to become a permanent, continuing position.

    DCS  hosts over 475 PreK-12 students, including indigenous students from Cowichan Tribes. These families are part of our identity and add richly to the cultural diversity of the school.
