    Advancement

SCSBC’s Advancement services focus on helping schools flourish by guiding and supporting the strategic processes by which they advance their mission through the integration of their admissions, marketing, communications, and development programs.

SCSBC provides individual school support in enrolment management strategies, community engagement initiatives, marketing and communications, volunteer management, giving programs, and the stewarding of giving relationships.

We work collaboratively with schools to help build and maintain robust enrolment, a supportive community and a strong culture of giving, working together to identify priorities and establish a framework for Advancement that fits the unique culture of each school.

We also assist schools during a major capital campaign by conducting an external campaign readiness study to determine the ability and willingness of the school’s community to support the proposed project and provide ongoing support as needed during the campaign.

We provide monthly networking opportunities for school advancement leaders that allow for the sharing of ideas, best practices, resources and professional development opportunities, including 1:1 coaching, workshops, and the annual Navigate conference.

Some of our Advancement services include:

    • Advancement Program Reviews
    • Assistance with establishing annual plans
    • Enrolment strategy development
    • Marketing and Communications
    • Community Engagement Initiatives
    • Establishment of Giving Programs

“Being new to Admissions and Advancement, I was able to glean valuable onboarding information for my position. It is wonderful having two cohorts to talk with and ask questions about best practices. I’ve appreciated that SCSBC facilitates these groups and have enjoyed getting to know others in my position in Christian schools across British Columbia.”

“I am so grateful for the Advancement Cohort. SCSBC’s strong leadership/support enabled us to form an Advancement community to share and learn from.”

“I am so thankful to have a supportive group of colleagues with whom I can exchange ideas, ask questions, and learn from each other. Sometimes, this role can feel isolating, but having a group to share and collaborate with has been immensely helpful. I always know that there is a place to share openly and learn from a team of colleagues who truly understand the unique responsibilities that we have.”

Being part of the SCSBC advancement cohort has been a tremendous support to me in my role. It is a great sounding board when issues come up and a great source for new ideas. In our monthly Zoom gatherings, we share questions, our challenges, and many encouraging words. Some of my colleagues are quickly becoming friends for life.”

“SCSBC’s annual conferences have equipped me with practical tools I could start using right away. They have given me insight into the big picture of Advancement at Christian schools and have helped me connect my faith and purpose with my role at my school. I’ve relied on SCSBC staff for advice on strategic planning, building a team, contract negotiations, and lots more.”

“As the Director of Advancement at a small school, my role can often become blurred with overlapping demands and responsibilities. Through regular contact with SCSBC’s team and the cohort of other advancement staff across the SCSBC network, I am often able to encourage and be encouraged, guide and be guided, and benefit from the collective wisdom and experience of others. It helps me to clarify how I can best serve this institution and the cause of Christ-centred education for students today and in the future.”
