    Position:  Educational Support Services Coordinator
    Time Type:  Continuing
    Salary Range:  $60,676 – 102,972 (depending on training and experience)

     

    The Educational Support Services Coordinator

    The Educational Support Services Coordinator (combining Special Education & Learning Assistance) is the leader of our cross-campus ESS team.  The ESS coordinator builds an effective team and collaborates with teachers, educational assistants and administrators to develop plans for student success. The ESS Coordinator is responsible for the development of student learning plans and individualized education plans as well as determining the appropriate supports needed to meet student learning needs. The duties include EA management and leadership, yearly start up tasks, IEP case load management, coordinating outside services, planning for IEP meetings and chairing school-based team meetings.  The coordinator may also be involved in some student pull-out groups, intervention groups and one-on-one instruction.  The coordinator is supervised by the Junior School principal.

     

     Preferred Qualifications

    • A Bachelor of Education degree (or equivalent)
    • Hold, or be eligible for, a valid BC Teaching Certificate
    • University course work or training in the following areas:
      • Credentials in special education
      • Credentials to facilitate Level B assessment
      • Meeting the needs of students with specific designations (i.e., autism, developmental delays, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), etc.)
      • Meeting diverse behavioural needs in the classroom
      • Computer technology for the classroom
      • Non-violent de-escalation training
      • Trauma informed response to children with learning challenges
