    Job Description

    We are seeking a BC-certified teacher for a daily part-time position. This position is for the remainder of the 2024/25 school year (ending June 27, 2024). In this role, you will teach English language learners in Grades 8 – 12. Some teaching is within the school day, and some is carried out after school. You will report to the International Program Coordinator to ensure alignment with the program vision.

     

    Characteristics of the ideal candidate include:

    • Vibrant Christian faith and engagement with a local church
    • Appreciation for diverse cultures
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work with teenagers
    • BC Teacher Certification
    • TESL certification
    • Experience developing ELL coursework (including Universal Design for Learning and Project-based learning) for ELL levels 2-4
    • Experience assessing student learning and preparing learning updates
    • Experience with the integration of First Peoples Principles of Learning
    • Familiarity with AI and its application and implications for ELL teaching & learning
    • Working knowledge of Moodle and Google-based course delivery
    • Familiarity with the BC curriculum, especially in relation to Language Arts content and competencies
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    In addition to supporting students, as part of the PCS staff team, you will participate in staff meetings and regular professional development. You will contribute your expertise and insight to team-based planning for individual students and for the international program in general. You will also be encouraged to engage in extracurricular activities in the broader school community.

     

    Regular hours of work are:

    • Monday through Thursday: 1:45 pm – 4:00 pm
    • Friday: 1:10 pm – 2:25 pm
