    Located in the sunny Okanagan Valley, Kelowna Christian School is the largest independent Christian school in the city of Kelowna, British Columbia, educating approximately 875 students from Preschool to Grade 12 on three campuses. Founded in 1978, the school approaches student development holistically, working to fulfil its mission “to educate, equip, and inspire our school community to become disciples of Jesus who love and serve God and others.” Kelowna Christian School is at an exciting time in its history, having recently entered a period of significant growth coupled with a renewed commitment to our core mission of building disciples of Jesus Christ and vision to become “a Christ-like community passionately transforming our world.”

    We believe in an innovative, holistic approach to education that strengthens the heart, mind and soul. We are looking for dynamic, collaborative BC-certified educators who demonstrate a commitment towards Christian Education, the ability to deliver curriculum content in an innovative manner that fully engages students in learning, and act as personal models to deepen students’ understanding of a Biblical worldview and relationship with God.


    Particular responsibilities of the role include: ​​

    Music instruction is an integral part of our school culture. The role is currently comprised of two elements (Band/group instruction and chapel/worship support). Depending on the experience of job applicants, each element can be hired as separate positions.

    Band Instruction

    • Plan and prepare lessons that support the BC music curriculum
    • Engage students with creative instruction so as to inspire a love and appreciation of music
    • Teach Senior and Grade 9 Band classes, as well as other possible musical groups (e.g. Jazz Band)
    • Proactively communicate and proactively collaborate with administration, staff, and parents
    • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement, providing individualized feedback and written reports
    • Coordinate school performances for the community and KCS supporters
    • Plan experiential learning opportunities such as festival performances, music field trips, and band trips
    • Be involved in the school drama production if it is a musical

    Chapel/worship support

    • Teach Worship 10-12 as part of the Bible curriculum
    • Supervise and coach/mentor High School students involved in the preparation of chapel music


    Preferred candidates will:

    • Be effective in relating to children/teens
    • Have a desire to develop a Christian Worldview among students
    • Be committed to lifelong learning
    • Be comfortable working in an information technology-rich environment


    Teacher applicants should meet, at minimum, the following qualifications:

    • A Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent.
