    Reports to: Lead Principal; VP of Learning & Programs

     

    Overview

    The Out-of-School Care Program Manager is responsible for the successful leadership, and overall supervision, management, and operations of the school-operated Child Care program. This position is responsible for the implementation and delivery of licensed after-school programming for school-age children, Kindergarten to Grade 5. The position will ensure participants are engaged, safe, and provided with developmentally appropriate programming. Duties will include: ensure compliance with licensing requirements, supervision at school, monthly activity planning, organization and execution of activities, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of participants.

     

    Job Specifications

    • part-time position
    • Before school care 7-8 am; after school care 3-6 pm
    • Other hours for program development as needed
    • hourly rate: $28.00 – $35.18

    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Delivers safe, successful, healthy, and enjoyable licensed care for school-age children.
    • Daily classroom preparation, along with preparation and execution of planned activities.
    • Provides learning and guidance to participants on appropriate behaviour during play and activities.
    • Monthly activity planning within an assigned budget – planning activities that are meaningful, engaging and age-appropriate, including arts and crafts, sports, cooperative games and dramatic play.
    • Works collaboratively with and supervises program staff
    • Delivers care and support with behaviour management, inclusion, first aid and other areas relating to caring for children.
    • Ensures equipment and program spaces are safe and sanitary before and after each program session
    • Adheres to licensing requirements set forth by the Ministry of Children and Family Development and Fraser Health
    • Acts as a liaison between the general public and MRCS, providing good customer service and clear communication with parents and caregivers.
    • Follows all policies, procedures, and standards of MRCS
    • Performs other related duties as required.

     

    Education & Experience

    • Degree/Diploma in Early Childhood Education would be an asset.
    • Current registration with the BC Early Childhood Educators if ECE-qualified
    • Minimum five years of experience in child care or a related field, including knowledge of
      techniques for typically developing children, as well as children with special needs.
    • Experience in a K-12 Educational setting would be an asset.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the BC Early Years Framework and childcare licensing regulations
    • Experience managing childcare centres would be an asset.
    • Experience in leading and supervising staff
    • Demonstrated superior organizational, management, leadership, communication and human relations skills
    • Working knowledge of office procedures and standard office equipment, including personal computers and office software.
    • Valid First Aid certificate as required by Child Care Licensing
    • Must be willing to adhere to and sign the Maple Ridge Christian School Community Standards Agreement
