    Start date: August 1, 2025

Calvin Christian School (CCS) is a Christian school located in Hamilton, Ontario and offers elementary education to children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. We are seeking our next leader who will serve as Principal. CCS is a two-campus school with the heritage campus in Hamilton and a second campus in Caledonia, which opened its doors in 2020.  As a two-campus school, this individual will lead our organization with the support of a leadership team which includes a Site Principal at the Caledonia campus and a Vice-Principal at the Hamilton Campus. This is an exciting time in our school’s history as we seek to grow Christian education at both campuses, particularly through the development of our Caledonia campus. CCS is a community that is deeply committed to providing a Christ-centered education and has been doing so for the past 72 years. CCS’s vision is that all of God’s children are “thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:17). Together, we provide education to 487 students coming from 240 families and employ 75 staff members.

Partnering with parents, CCS is dedicated to educating the whole child from a Biblical worldview, incorporating the practices of Project-Based Learning, Restorative Justice, and Responsive Classroom. We strive to create a learning culture that is future-focused and driven by continual improvement, recognizing the vital role this plays in shaping students’ growth and development. It is our aim to see evidence of purposeful and beautiful student work in and around our buildings. We are committed to providing a Christian education that rests on the truth that every person is made in the image of God, created by God for a purpose, placed by God to live in the world He created and specifically called to live for Christ in this cultural moment. It is our desire that our students grow in knowledge, maturity, and devotion to God, preparing them to actively share in the life and work of His people in the world.

The ideal candidate will possess a clear vision for Christian education, strong leadership abilities, adept interpersonal skills, be a creative thinker, and have the ability to foster a healthy school culture. The candidate should be dedicated to the values and identity statements of CCS that outline its Reformed Christian approach to education, with a commitment to nurturing and stewarding that vision. Most importantly, the successful candidate needs to have a deep faith and personal relationship with Jesus and as such, will be able to provide spiritual leadership to the entire school community.

Other key experiences and qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

    • A Master’s Degree in Education and/or Christian Leadership (a Master’s degree in progress may be considered)
    • The professional designation of an Ontario Certified Teacher and the Christian School Teacher’s Certificate, or equivalents from another jurisdiction
    • A minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience (preferably across a variety of grades) and a minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience and staff oversight (preferably with operating in a governance model with a Board of Directors)
    • Experience with Responsive Classroom, Project Based Learning and Restorative Practice will be considered assets

Note: The hiring committee is seeking a broad range of candidates. Even if you don’t meet all the preferred qualifications, we encourage you to reach out to us.

If you are passionate about Christian education and want to lead us into the next chapter of our story, then apply to be our Principal.  This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for all operational aspects of the school.
