    FTE: 0.6 – 1.0 FTE
    Salary Range: $53,743 – $85,000 based on 1.0 FTE (dependent on education/certificate and experience)

    Duncan Christian School is located in the Cowichan Valley on beautiful Vancouver Island. Due to a maternity leave, we are accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE School Counsellor position for the 2025/26 school year. The successful applicant will be part of both elementary and secondary school campuses.

    This position involves being a role model to deepen student understanding of a Biblical worldview, working with a diverse group of learners, being part of a collaborative staff, and being open to new ideas and ways of learning.

     

    Successful candidates will:

    • Have an understanding of Christian Education
    • Practice and demonstrate evidence of a strong commitment to the Christian faith
    • Practice strong collaboration skills and enjoy working as part of  a team 
    • Short term counselling and crisis intervention for students 
    • Support teachers in educating students regarding well-being
    • Maintain confidential records of interactions with students
    • Guidance for teachers in identifying students who may require support or intervention
    • Consult with Directors of Student Support 
    • Facilitate communication with parents to offer consistent and coordinated advice in supporting their children
    • Interact with students who come from a variety of backgrounds where faith and culture play a significant role

     

    Ideal  (but not limited to) Qualifications:

    • Master’s in Counseling or equivalent
    • Registered Counselor, RCC or CCC
    • Teaching experience or experience in a school setting 
    • Christian counselling or perspective courses 

     

    DCS  hosts over 450 PreK-12 students, including indigenous students from Cowichan Tribes. These families are part of our identity and add richly to the school’s cultural diversity.
