    Duncan Christian School is located on beautiful Vancouver Island and, due to significant growth, invites applications for the following anticipated middle/high school teaching position commencing the 2024-2025 school year.

    Secondary School Director of Student Support

    This 0.8-1.0 FTE position involves working with a diverse group of learners, being part of a collaborative staff, and being open to new ideas and ways of learning. The present teaching assignment includes overseeing the work of educational assistants, working with funded and non-funded students, and supporting our student behaviour matrix.

    Teaching will be required to make it a full-time position.

     

    Successful candidates will  

    • Have an understanding of Christian Education
    • Practice and demonstrate evidence of a strong commitment to the Christian faith
    • Hold, or be eligible for, a valid BC Teaching Certificate or Independent Schools Teaching Certificate and meet the requirements of the DCS Employment of Teaching Contract
    • Understanding or willingness to learn about Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
    • Evidence of strong written communication skills through quality of resume and attachments
    • Experience working with students of diverse needs
    • Practice strong collaboration skills and enjoy working as part of  a team 
    • Explore a variety of learning approaches
    • Demonstrate  an interest in the development of learning  

     

    Preference will be given to applicants with:

    • Experience managing staff
    • Administrative experience
    • Level B Classification for Assessments

     

    DCS  hosts over 450 PreK-12 students, including indigenous students from Cowichan Tribes.
